- Presented, with Dr. Janette Ralston, “Journalism as a Way of Learning: How Secondary School Teachers Can Use Journalism Principles in Their Classrooms” at the Hawaii International Conference on Education in Honolulu, Hawaii, Jan. 5-8, 2012.
- Moderated a panel discussion entitled “Finding Your MOE-JO” at the Excellence in Journalism conference in New Orleans, La., Sept. 27, 2011. The conference was a joint convention of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Radio Television Digital News Association.
- Served as a reviewer for the 7th edition of “Media & Culture: An Introduction to Mass Communication” by Richard Campbell, Christopher R. Martin and Bettina Fabos, and published by Bedford/St. Martin’s, copyright 2010.
- Moderated a panel discussion at the Region VII conference of the Society of Professional Journalists on April 25, 2009. The discussion was about the future of print journalism, and the panel members were St. Louis Post-Dispatch Editor Arnie Robbins, Newspaper Guild President Bernie Lunzer and University of Missouri journalism professor Clyde Bentley.
- Wrote “Fighting censorship on campus,” an article published in the January/February 2009 edition of The Quill, the magazine of the Society of Professional Journalists.
- Contributed articles to the Encyclopedia of the First Amendment published by CQ Press, a division of Congressional Quarterly, Inc. Publication in September 2008.
- Wrote “Flag-burning amendment incinerates basic freedom,” a guest column published in The Times of Shreveport (La.), on June 10, 2006.
- Wrote “Learning to Appreciate the First Amendment” an invited article published in the Spring 2005 issue of Adviser Update, a newsletter published by the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund, Inc.
